The Live Eat Play Colorado website is a collaborative outreach effort which strives to be a 24/7 source of timely, useful, research-based nutrition and health information. Health communication materials continue to be driven by student contributions working in the FSHN department, CSU Extension, and the Kendall Anderson Nutrition Center. Two research-based programs - Food Friends- Fun with New Foods® and Food Friends Get Movin’ with Mighty Moves® - have successfully demonstrated behavior changes in preschool-aged children. The success of Mighty Moves at increasing gross motor skill performance and physical fitness in preschoolers, in concert with the Fun with New Foods program's demonstrated ability to increase children's willingness to try new foods, has contributed to the establishment of healthful behaviors for proper growth and development in the early years. First implemented in 4 preschools in 2000, this program has grown to now being offered in 1036 preschool classrooms, impacting over 42,000 children and families each year in Colorado.
